Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells Review From: Bowflex

Great set of adjustable dumb bells with many features and with accessories. Take little space and gives a good workout.

They are a little long which makes them bulky with some exercises.

Great weights for a great price that give you a real nice workout and home and can be used with other programs like P90X.

Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells Can Be Good for Home Use

I had hoped to have a home fitness room one day, with plenty of room for a variety of fitness equipment, but for now, Iím relegated to a rather small portion of the garage in which to workout. Iíve joined and cancelled a number of gym memberships, as we live in a remote area and between work and home responsibilities itís difficult to make that trip all the way to the health club.

I needed to find a quality, space efficient workout system in which I could work all of my major muscle groups and was determined to do my due diligence in order to make sure I found the best deal for what I was looking for.

After speaking with friends and other fitness buffs online, I found the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells and purchased them for a little over $300.

What they can do

The Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells includes 15 sets of weights in one system. It works all of your core areas, and I can testify that it does just that. In fact, after several months of use I feel like Iím in the best shape of my life.

You can work your legs through squats, lunges, calf raises and dead-lifts. Perform curls, extensions and kick-backs to work your arms as well as presses and flyes in order to increase chest strength. Rows and dead-lifts will help strengthen your back while crunches, rotations and leg-raises work your abs. Youíll also work your shoulders through shrugs, raises, presses and rows.

The amount of versatility these dumbbells have is amazing. They offer one of the best all-around full-body workouts within a very small space. The dumbbells come with one base plate for each dumbbell while all the unused plates can rest in the compact base while they arenít being used.† When youíre finished using them they can be stored out of sight in the baseplate.

Quality and value

While $300 may seem like a lot to pay for weights, theyíre actually a more cost-effective option when compared to a conventional set of dumbbells, offering practically limitless weight customizations. The Bowflex 552 dumbbells are designed to be durable as well as to reduce the risk of injuries. The quality you get for the price is a real bargain in my opinion.

The construction is solid and even when lifting and bringing the dumbbells down quickly, there doesnít seem to be any issues with the locking mechanism. By using common sense, they should last a very long time; meaning, donít drop them. If they are dropped, the plates will start to loose and the weights could fall off.

What Do Others Say about It?

The BowFlex SelectTech Dumbbells are just about the sexiest piece of gym equipment I've ever owned.- Dr. Kim "DeyBwah"
I'm a 48-yr old guy of average fitness, average strength, and average physique. I started lifting weights to...don't laugh...improve my golf game. I love a bargain, but I love a great value even more, and I'll pay for the most expensive choice if it's worth it. When I decided to get some adjustable dumbbells, I started digging into the details. See below for the brands I considered and the pros and cons in my opinion. I only reviewed the ones I was able to try with my own hands (mainly a used or new sporting goods store or friends' places). Bottom line: the SelectTech 'bells provide the most bang for the buck and are the best choice by a wide margin!- beam me up scotty

Whatís included

The dumbbells include a free DVD with step-by-step instructions on how to use them safely in addition to the two dumbbells with a total of 10 places, locking into either the dumbbell of the base plate. They even come with a five-year warranty on the weight plates and a two-year warranty on the dumbbell cores and the base plate.

Overall the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells are easy to use, take up little space and are quite reasonably priced when compared to the high cost of purchasing individual dumbbells. They offer an outstanding workout for all the major muscle groups, are made well and are also quite stylish.

The majority of other users Iíve spoken with have had virtually the same experience with the exception of a few whoíve tried using them at a gym after theyíd been mistreated over a long period of time.
