It takes crystal clear, beautiful HD photos and videos. It has some of the same features as other cameras over twice the cost!Cons
You have to rely on the LCD screen for videos—you can't take a movie using the eye-finder.Verdict
It's really one of the only cameras you'll find of such high quality and ability for its low price.
Have you really stumbled upon the highest quality camera available at a low-end price?
He’s gone through many cameras over the years as he’s honed and developed his skill, and only fairly recently was he finally able to get his hands on the SLR, which he was very excited about (as I’m sure anyone can imagine…when is a teenage tech-geek not thrilled to attain the latest greatest?). As the rowdy, fun bunch that we are, we also enjoy movie-making, so when we purchased the SLR we were also able to sell our video camera and fully rely on the beautiful, full HD video-taking abilities of this compact device…and we’ve never looked back.
So, I asked my talented photographic bro (that’s photographic, not photogenic, mind you—funny how he can take such great portraits of everyone but himself…is it just me or are all teenage boys incapable of looking at a camera and smiling without pulling something totally random and unpredictable?) what he liked least about the SLR T2i (because it’s quite apparent that he generally loves it, so that’s not a question), and he said the only thing he could think of was the fact that when you’re filming a movie you can’t use the eye-finder; you have to use the LCD screen, but he said he didn’t really mind, seeing as how the LCD screen is nice and big. Another cool thing about this complex camera is that it can be as simple as you need it to be—just basic point-and-shoot—using the green auto (which is nice to know if someone like me were buying it, as I am anything but that super brainiac person who would know every long and confusing word for every different feature…let’s just say I’m not very technically inclined and could easily see myself being intimidated by the complexity of the camera’s capabilities), or, the SLR can become as advanced as you want it to be, taking itself to new levels all the time based on the more you know and understand photography and are willing to learn what all the different cool settings actually do.
Now that we’ve established that it’s actually my younger brother who possesses all the magical talent behind wielding this camera’s incredible ability to stun the viewer (as if that weren’t clear right off), I can still say this camera is a great deal for its value. It’s ideal for the photographer or movie-maker, and how many cameras within a reasonable price can boast that? It seems to me in many cases you either find a great camera that takes lousy videos or vice verse, but this camera holds the perfect middle ground. It's ideal for any level of photographer, from the aspiring to the pros, and the same goes for movie-makers—yeah, the full HD is so good that even the pros opt for it! Let’s take a look at some of the oh-so-cool features and stuff.
First—it has ‘Rebel’ in its title. Cool. And, it’s 18 megapixel, the kit includes 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens, ISO 100-6400 (expandable to 12800) for shooting from bright to dim light; enhanced 63-zone, dual–layer metering system, improved EOS movie mode with manual exposure control (full HD), wide 3 in. Clear View LCD monitor, and new compatibility with SDXC memory cards. (I’ll be honest with you, I don’t really know what all this stuff means either…it’s pretty much Greek to me…or is that ‘geek’? But anyway, I’m pretty sure it’s all really cool stuff that would elate your friendly-neighborhood photographer (did I mention my bro is also a Spider-Man fan?).)
So, I can honestly and wholeheartedly testify that my brother does awesome stuff with this sweet camera. My advice to you—if you’ve got a little savings you’re willing to invest in a good-quality, compact and very capable product, hesitate no longer and take the leap! Check it out at Amazon, where it can be purchased for $649 (and where you can also read over all those cool sounding features I didn’t explain too well due to my limited brain capacity that only retains information relative to my personal self).
