Full Video Converter 9 REVIEW - Here's what real customers think...
With the abundance of personal electronic devices such as iPods, tablet pcs, Macs and all sorts of variations, you'll find yourself with tons of different file types. Some common video files are MP4 and .AVI but it would just be too simple if that was all there was. It never fails that you'll order something online and end up with some file type that you're unfamiliar with. My least favorite file type is called MKV and that doesn't seem to be something your average video player can handle. Trying to stick any of these onto a blank DVD to play on your television can be even more frustrating.
To sort all of this out, you'll need an "all in one" video conversion program. The problem is a lot of these are either abnormally expensive, don't have that one feature you really want, or the trial isn't good enough to warrant you buying the full version. A quick search will turn up dozens of video converters and at least 1/2 of them claim to be "free" but end up either very limited or timed.
Video Converter 9 claims to be different than the other programs by
actually doing everything all the other ones do but rolled into one
cheap and easy package. Let's check out the features first.
High Speed Audio/Video Conversion
For the purpose of this review I tested a couple free conversion programs I found on CNET as well as the trial version of Full Video Converter 9. I copied some files from a DVD I had laying around and tried to turn them into high definition .AVI files. One program, that shall remain nameless, took 1.5 hours to convert DVD files into an .AVI file that any computer could play. Using Full Video Converter 9, this process took about 20 minutes. Keep in mind, this isn't what a normal person would be doing with this program. It was mainly a stress test.
You can add a watermark, edit video effects, crop and resize, lay down various audio tracks, and even turn images into videos with sound if you want. I tinkered with this shortly and made a llama watermark for a short video comprised of random photos I had. It was surprisingly easy to do.
This program supports:
Video: AVI, MPEG, WMV, MP4, FLV, MKV, H.264/MPEG-4, DivX, XviD, MOV, M4V, VOB, ASF, 3GP, 3G2, SWF, H.261, H.264, DV, DIF, MJPG, MJPEG, DVR-MS, NUT, QT, YUV, DAT, MPV, NSV AVCHD Video (*.mts, *.m2ts), H.264/MPEG-4 AVC (*.mp4), MPEG2 HD Video (*.mpg; *.mpeg), MPEG-4 TS HD Video (*.ts), MPEG-2 TS HD Video (*.ts), Quick Time HD Video (*.mov), WMV HD Video (*.xwmv), Audio-Video Interleaved HD Video (*.avi)
Audio: MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, CDA, OGG, FLAC, APE, CUE, M4A, RA, RAM, AC3, MP2, AIFF, AU, MPA, SUN AU Format
Image: BMP, JPEG, PNG, GIF
Ease of Use
If you are familiar with other "all in one" programs like NERO, you know they aren't particularly user friendly. Full Video Converter 9 is layed out so easily I'm fairly sure my 62 year old Mother could use it. It's very clear what you are putting as an input source and what you want it to be when you're finished.
"Totally impressive! I've been looking for en easy way of converting videos(mainly AVI, MPEG) to be playable in my iPod, and this Genius video converter just came in handy and it really works!"
"I download and installed this video converter to see if I can handle it well or not. To be honesty, at that time I was a green hand not knowing too much about the computer, but thanks to the friendly interface, I learnt to use it quickly."
If you have a lot of devices, burn a lot of DVDs or like to manipulate audio and video files, Full Video Converter 9 is a lifesaver. With the couple test runs I did everything synched properly, played in a couple different DVD players and on a tablet PC running Android. This is a solid product and you have to at least give the free trial a whirl. You'll probably be impressed and purchase it right away. This can really replace about 10 free programs making it much easier to deal with.
