GoPro HERO2 Edition is a Rocking Underwater Camera

If you’re looking for a new camera that can take underwater photos and video, consider the GoPro Camera, HERO2 Edition. It’s inexpensive and comes with many great features for the price. It’s waterproof up to 197 feet and there are many more great features. Here’s why I recommend it for underwater filming and photography.

As I was searching for a camera that can fit my needs, I came across the GoPro Camera and at just under three hundred dollars, I was intrigued and wanted to find out more about this camera to see if I would be getting my money’s worth out of it. The following are some of the features that I liked:

Product Details
  • Waterproof to 197 Feet
  • Great Sound Quality
  • Easy to Use
  • High Definition
  • LED Lighting
One of the things that stood out for me was the ease of use because as an amateur, I do not want to take a long time getting to know a new camera.  I want to be able to pick up the camera and begin shooting right away.  With the one button shooting mode and the LED lighting, I know that even underwater I will not be fumbling around trying to get the shot as I will be able to grab the camera and go.

Why I Want To Take This Camera Under Water

I have actually made the decision to buy this camera and I cannot wait to get into the water and start taking some phenomenal pictures and video with it.  With the high definition output I know that editing my photos will not leave them pixilated and the video output can be watched on even the largest high def televisions with loss of image quality.  Another bonus to this camera is all the different mounts that come with it.  It can be mounted to a bicycle, strapped to my arm or any other surface for high speed video on the fly.  I can even mount this to my chest when I’m diving and get video footage of the entire dive.  I can also strap it to my bike helmet or any other helmets to get great pictures or video when hang-gliding or rock climbing.

Issues That Concern Me

This camera is remarkable for the price but what I do not like is the fact the there is not much battery life and I cannot be changing batteries when on a shoot every twenty minutes.  This is a huge issue for me but if I only use this camera for dives I will have time in between each dive to switch out batteries.  I’m sure a higher end camera would have batteries that actually stay charged long enough to complete a full dive but as the old adage states, you get what you pay for.  Since this is in my price range, I can make the battery’s lack of longevity work for me.

What Others Say
Konrad Haskins says, “The Hero2 has Hero"2" printed on it and an HDMI port by the card slot. The box I got said Hero2 the manual Hero2 but the cam itself had NO HDMI port, did not say Hero2, and only had one LED making what I got NOT a "2".
Mike C stated, “The previous hdhero was the consensus best helmet cam on the market and now with the hdhero2 there is absolutely no doubt which one is best.”
Conclusion

At the end of the day I need a camera that is not going to put me in the poorhouse but that offers the features of a more expensive camera.  It needs to be portable, lightweight, durable and able to go on dives with me.  The added benefit of all the strapping systems for this camera makes it even more desirable.

The cost of this camera is well within my price range and I don’t have to take out a second mortgage to buy it which is the best selling point.  To get a camera that has all the options I want that is affordable is huge.  While I am still concerned about the battery life, I can make do and have to be flexible but at the end of the day, it’s not enough to keep me from buying it. The GoPro is the way to go!
