FULL Review: Logitech G9X Gaming Mouse

Meet one of the cheapest gaming mouses: The Logitech G9X Gaming Mouse.  Though it's not necessarily as pretty as the Razer Naga or the Cataclysm WoW mouse, this mouse delivers in terms of its practicality--allowing you to make precise, quick movements without any obstruction or loss of speed.  Its customization is also a strong selling point for this mouse, with grips that can be changed and adjusted with just a quick flip of the mouse cover.  Despite lacking a wide array of customizable buttons, it still remains as one of the most recommended mice: Experts have continuously recommended it for games such as World of Warcraft and Call of Duty.

Design

Design-wise, the Logitech G9X Gaming Mouse is nothing special.  From first glance, it appears to be an ordinary mouse--slim, yet round and monotone, with very few features that make it stand out, at least design-wise, from the competition.  There are no special back lights or scalloped designs here; just a black, simple mouse that offers little in aesthetics.  But don't let the design fool you, because this is one of its weakest points.

Functionality

Arguably, its functionality is one of its strongest points, delivering the most precise, detailed gameplay anyone could ask for.  While most mice only go up to 3000 dpi, this mouse is capable of going up to 5000 dpi, making it one of the fastest and most precise mice on the market.  Better yet, you can adjust the dpi from your mouse by clicking a special button on the cover--a great asset when you need to adjust the dpi to suit your playing style (from playing MMORPGs to first-person shooters).  The only area this mouse falters, functionally-speaking, is in its lack of customizable buttons--there simply aren't that many, at least when compared to the Razer Naga or Cataclysm WoW mouse.

Customization

Unlike other gaming mouses, where customization is simply limited to assigning custom commands to buttons, the Logitech G9X Gaming Mouse allows you to customize its grip and weight, allowing for a completed customized gaming experience.  Grips can be switched out from thin to wide, allowing it to optimize the grip for people with big or small hands.  The mouse also comes with a loading dock inside the mouse where individual weights can be loaded, from 4 to 28 grams.  Should you need a heavier feel to control the accuracy of the mouse, these weights will come in handy, and can increase the overall heaviness of the mouse.

Customer Response

As a gaming mouse, the Logitech G9X Gaming Mouse is prized in the gaming community.  Many of them love the customizable features, lauding Logitech for the creation of its weight-loading system, which ultimately allows them to customize the mouse to their specific gaming needs.  "You can have up to four weights in the weight tray, and the mouse comes with four 4g pieces and four 7g pieces.  I've got mine configured with four 4g weights and it feels just fine," says one customer.

Though it doesn't have as many customizable buttons when compared to other gaming mouses, the Logitech G9X Gaming Mouse is still a very superior mouse--surprising, considering it's one of the cheapest as well.  What it lacks in design and quantity it makes up for in precision, customization, and accurate mouse control, making it a "must buy" for any serious gamer.  This game gets a perfect score.
