Review Snapshot
Pros

This system is a great value with extras like the steering wheel and Mario Kart game included. It also is highly addictive with the smoothest motion based gaming experience currently on the market. It is much less expensive than other gaming systems.

Cons

The Wii is somewhat limited with game selection. The system should have come with at least two controllers as so many of the games are based on such needs.

Verdict

Overall, the Nintendo Wii is a great value for your money. I rate it a solid buy.

Can this Wii Gaming Bundle Stay Relevant Amid Tough Competition?

In the competitive world of video games, it is sometimes tough to find a niche that can last. When the Nintendo Wii gaming system was released many thought it had little to no chance of hanging around. Here we are years later with it still going strong. This particular Nintendo Wii System bundle is a great bargain for many reasons, and it includes the insanely fun and popular Mario Kart to boot. If you are going to spend the money to get a Nintendo Wii anyway, you would be remiss to not simply go with this bundle and get the freebies.

What do you get for your money?

You get the console, the Mario Kart game, the steering wheel, the Wii remote plus controller, the nunchuk controller and the sensor bar. You also get the cords to set up standard definition gaming and a power cord. This bundle is a great bargain given the fact that a similar package without the games or the steering wheel went for about the same price. Never turn down freebies in the gaming world. (Or the world in general, right?)

Why the Nintendo Wii over other gaming systems?

There was a time when I think gamers had to choose between getting an X-box 360, Playstation 3 or Wii. Those days seem to be passing us by simply because the Wii came down in price so much. Having a Wii almost feels like an accessory as far as pricing now, making it much easier to own more than one system. While certainly the Wii stands alone just fine, the X-box and Playstation 3 are in a totally different class. The Wii is the top of the class as far as motion based gaming to me. It really just depends on what you want to play. While the competition is making strides towards entering the motion based gaming genre, they are still not quite there in my eyes. The Wii is superior for now.

What are some negatives to the Wii?

I do feel the games are fairly limited on the Wii in comparison to the other systems. I also hate that the system, which is clearly based on multi-player games, only comes with the setup for one player. Why not put another controller in there and add a few bucks? The system loses some of its value when you consider that you have to buy more controllers and nunchuks. Outside of this, it seems this system is pretty solid overall.

What about playing online?

Playing games online is huge now, and you simply have to look at this as a feature. All of the systems include this type of gaming functionality, so it is a bit of a wash. Of the three, the Wii has the most limited options. Still, WiiWare is a pretty cool service that can allow for downloads, games, classic arcade games and even Netflix streaming. The system is growing and adding things all the time, so Wii is certainly trying to keep up with the onslaught of options that X-box 360 and PS3 always seems to be coming out with. It almost seems like an unfair fight at times, but the systems were not really designed to compete. They are apples and oranges overall.

Final Analysis

The Wii is a solid gaming system that is highly addictive and great for the entire family. Even if you own a PS3 or an Xbox 360, I would still highly recommend owning a Nintendo Wii. The system is different enough, and addictive enough that it is worth every single penny that you spend. Despite other various Wii gaming bundles, I think this bundle is the best deal out there to get a Wii. You might as well purchase the bundle that offers up these freebies. At around $150, you really canít go wrong with all the fun that comes in the box.
