Why the PS3 320GB Uncharted 3 Bundle is a Good Buy

I have been looking for a new gaming system and there are many out there to choose from but I am not sure which one is right for me.  I don’t need anything fancy, just something that I can use to play some games on and maybe watch a movie.  I know there are some games that allow you to become a part of the game with fancy cameras and such but I am not really looking for anything like that.  I am a huge fan of Unchartered so when I saw this bundle with the PS3, I had to check it out and learn more.

Would this gaming system offer me what I wanted without giving me a bunch of features that I would never use?  Since this system is nearly $300 when bundled with Uncharted 3, I want to make sure I’m getting my money’s worth too.  I don’t want to look at a used system that may be less expensive because I also need a system that has high definition output too.  There is a lot I want and do not want and finding the perfect gaming system can be a bit tricky for me.

While this game does not have a bunch of bells and whistles, it does seem to be a solid system with the added bonus of Uncharted 3 included in the bundle.  What it does have seems to be right on track with what I am looking for but I’m still not sure it is worth the price tag.  I want to make sure that I’m buying a gaming system that I’ll actually use on a regular basis no matter how much it costs.

Why You Need It

Not only is this a basic gaming system that has high definition game play but it also plays Blu-ray disks in high def too.  It does have 3D capabilities so if you have a 3D television, which I would love to have, then you can play your favorite games and movies and get the full effect.  With the internet access, you can download your favorite movies or stream them from either Netflix or Hulu Plus at high speeds through the built in Ethernet port.  Because of this port, you can also go on the Playstation network and play online with your friends or with people from around the world.  With 320 GB of hard drive, you can save all your games plus pictures and movies too. 

Those who are fans of the Unchartered series of games will love the latest addition that comes with the gaming system.  When playing, use the DualShock controller which is also wireless so while you may not be hands free, you are not attached by cables.  You actually feel the play of the game in the hands when using this controller and it is also very sensitive so you don’t have to break your fingers when playing a long session.  This is very important to me so I was happy to see this controller was included in the package.

What Can Be Improved Upon

This console is not backwards compatible at all, which is a big deal but not a deal breaker for me although most of my games are for PS2.  It would be nice if they would offer a patch so the older games can be read by this console so I don’t have to switch over to the PS2 if I want to play an older game.  Also, the Ethernet port can run slow some times and the live online game play suffers for it although movies stream just fine.  The disks run loudly, which is very surprising since I don’t have that problem with my PS2.

Fun for the Whole Family

One thing that we all like the most about the PS3 Bundle is that everyone can enjoy the PS3 and those age-appropriate, we have a great game to start with. We bought some more games, another controller and some other great accessories and we were good to go. My pre-teen daughter was super excited to play Plants vs. Zombies and we even found games for the preschool aged kids as well. Buying this bundle is perfect for the adult Playstation fan but you can then purchase other games for other members of the family. The bundle is cheaper than if you purchased everything separately and it gives you a great start to your brand new gaming system.

Conclusion

Overall I like this version of the PS3 because it has everything I’m looking for and I don’t have to go through a lot of stuff that I don’t need.  I like the fact that I get a free game with the bundle and a large hard drive to save my games too.  Other than the fact that I can’t play my older games on it, I do like the system and the whole family is benefiting from it.   It's more than just a gaming console; it's a full entertainment package that we will enjoy for a long time.
