Angelcare Baby Monitor Deluxe is a Good Choice for Parents

There are many baby monitors available today with a variety of features and prices. Some of them can be quite expensive but you can find several quality monitors that are also affordable. For example, the Angelcare Baby Movement and Sound Monitor Deluxe Plus is a good choice. It's not too expensive and it comes with lots of extra features to make caring for your baby easier.

If your baby is at high risk for SIDS or if you’re a heavy sleeper that needs a little extra assurance your baby is sleeping comfortably, this is a great system. You can hear when your baby wakes up and the sensory pads will alert you if she doesn’t move after a few seconds. All parents can enjoy the peace of mind this system provides and based on user reviews, it appears to be a very reliable system.

Clarity and Range

This unit operates on two different frequencies. The equipment uses 2.4 GHz and the sound monitor uses the 927 MHz frequency so you won’t get any interference between the two. This ensures that you get a clear, crisp sound. The monitor is designed with eight channels and it has a range of up to 820 feet away. They also have an out-of-range indicator and LCD color lights that indicate sound and movement. The monitor will “tic” when movement is detected but this feature is optional.

This system has a microphone sensitivity setting, which is perfect for parents who have a hard time falling asleep unless everything is quiet. You can adjust it to only pick up the sounds your baby makes and nothing else in the room.

The Angelcare Baby Monitor Deluxe Plus has two charging bases with units for parents, two AC adapters and rechargeable batteries. It also has a room thermometer so you can keep the room a comfortable temperature for baby at all times. You can preset the temperature and an alarm will sound if it drops below or goes above the preset range. The parents units also have a locator in case you forget where you lay it down when you get busy and it has an optional voice activation feature.

The nursery unit is designed with a nightlight for a soft glow that lets you check in on baby without having to turn on a light. It has two sensor pads that go under the mattress to pick up any movements your child makes. You’ll know when she is rolling over or when she wakes up. It’s so sensitive that it will pick up even the slightest movements. The great thing about this feature is that it will also alert you if no movement is detected for 20 seconds.

Product Specs

  • 2 parents units
  • 2 charging bases
  • 1 nursery unit with soft nightlight and room thermometer
  • 2 sensor pads
  • 2 AC adapters
  • 8 NiMH rechargeable batteries
  • The sound monitor operates on the 927 MHz frequency so there is no interference from 2.4 GHz equipment

The Angelcare Baby Monitor Deluxe Plus does have a few minor drawbacks that you should be aware of. First, you have to remember to turn off the unit when the baby is not in the crib. If you forget, the alarm will sound after 20 seconds. If you tend to get in a hurry, you may find yourself going back and turning off the system often when the alarm sounds. It can also get very annoying during nightly feedings if you forget and the alarm goes off.

There are times when the system may malfunction and the alarm may sound off even though everything is fine. This doesn’t appear to happen often but when it does, it can be very scary.

Another complaint that users have with this baby monitor is that it can be difficult to set up the sensor pads. However, the user manual is very detailed and easy to understand. It just takes time and patience to do it correctly.

What Other Parents Think

“With my medical background and having witnessed the tragedy of SIDS many times, I'm hyper paranoid when it comes to our new daughter. I'll do anything and spend any amount of money to make sure I've done everything within my power to keep her safe. This product gives us peace of mind and allows us to sleep a little better at night. We've had no false alarms so far and the sound quality seems just fine. The night light function is pretty cool too. My only complaint would be it's not the easiest thing to set up initially. Sit down with a cup of coffee and be prepared to play with a lot to get it working just right.” – dom1992
“Whoever created this product is an absolute GENIUS. The base set (the one with the loop at the top) is easily adjusted by the two remotes. You can adjust nursery temperature limits, movement alarms, sound alarms, etc without even checking the base station. If no movement is detected for 20 seconds and the movement alarm is on, it will chirp and then alarm. I have mine on the second to highest sensitivity setting and never get false alarms. It even has a nightlight and rechargeable batteries and stands are included. The price is well worth the peace of mind.” – digital.maverick
“I loved this monitor and recommended it to at least 3 friends. The sensor pads really take a lot of the anxiety out of putting my baby to sleep and worrying about SIDS. However, after having this for almost a year, I picked up my son from his crib one day and forgot to turn off the monitor. Usually, the alarm will sound since there are no vibrations registered by the sensor pads. However, this time, it did not sound the alarm, which is very frightening to realize. I contacted AngelCare about the issue and heard no response from them. When it comes to your child's safety, I think at least a response email would be a decent courtesy. Lots of plusses, but the most important thing about a safety product to me is how well the company stands behind it when it fails.” –  Daniel Chin "unadjective"

The Angelcare Baby Movement and Sound Monitor Deluxe Plus is designed with a lot of good features for the price. The sensory pads that detect your baby’s movement can help parents get more rest. The 20-second alarm that sounds when no movement is detected adds to your peace of mind. Even with the few drawbacks this unit has, I think the others features more than make up for these inconveniences.
