Review Snapshot

A good tough, 60-day program that will whip you into shape.

It's not going to turn an overweight couch potato into the picture on the box.

Really good for people who are already into fitness but want to boost themselves to the next level. Well worth the price if you stick with it the full 60 days.

INSANITY: Not for Everyone but a Great FItness Program

Do you need something to help you jumpstart your workout routine?

Are your workouts growing bland or boring?

Do you just need something to push you past your comfort zone and into a new realm of fitness?

If youíre serious about getting in the best shape of your life, youíd be hard pressed to find a better program than what personal trainer Shaun T. has created. At first glance the $150 price tag may cause you to blink a little, but it is well worth every penny. There is no other equipment needed to participate in this program, and considering a decent treadmill can cost over $1,000 this program seems to be a real bargain. †All you need to start is space to exercise in, a television that works, a DVD player, and the motivation to get into shape.

While some exercise videos seem to be all hype. This is the real deal. If you ever wanted to experience boot camp, this program seems to come close to what I imagine it to be like.

What it includes

There are 10 DVDs, as well as a nutrition guide, a calendar on which to monitor your progress and free online support that includes full access to fitness experts and the ďInsanityĒ community. Itís almost like having your own personal trainer come to you, for a fraction of the cost.

The program is aimed at intensely working your entire body and ultimately giving you the results youíre looking for in just 60 days. You could use this to boost a program or fitness equipment you are already using at home.

Who the workouts are for

I donít think itís a good idea for someone who has been a couch potato to jump right into ďInsanity.Ē In fact, it could quickly lead to injury and take you out before you had much time to get started.† If youíve had previous injuries, are elderly, or just feel you arenít in very good shape, it might be a good idea to speak with your physician before beginning this program.

While I donít have knee problems, people who are prone to knee injuries should probably not purchase this program either. It is not considered a workout that is gentle on the joints by any means.

The workouts are probably best suited for someone who is trying to get to the next level of fitness.

The workouts

The first workout is a fitness test. For 30 minutes your body will be put to the test and youíll find out if youíre tough enough for the ďInsanityĒ workout program. It will teach you how to move with proper form, which is essential in this program in order to decrease risk of injury.

The next step will be to burn fat through intervals of intense lower-body plyometrics along with sweat inducing cardio activity to get you to a strength and conditioning level thatís necessary to complete the remainder of the program.

Each video builds on and flows with the last, intensifying your cardio activity while burning fat, strengthening muscle and upper-physique definition through strength-training and energy moves. Youíll go through interval circuits, great core-strengthening workouts, workouts to increase balance and flexibility and more, pushing you to your limit and helping you to reach your ultimate fitness goals.

Most of us realize, while exercise is an important fact, what you put into your body is also extremely important. With this intense workout, you may actually have to eat more. The nutrition program will help you to eat with the purpose of fueling yourself properly, in order to keep your body running optimally, allowing you to keep up with the intensity of these insane workouts.

Skipping this part of the program, could easily lead to failure as your body may not be able to handle all that is expected of it.

If youíre able to make it through the entire 60 days of Insanity, you have a lot to be proud of. While I canít say itís easy itís well worth the incredible stamina, and amazing body youíll have in such a short period of time.
