Tinnitus Control (Ear Ringing Relief, Homeopathic Formula) REVIEW - Does it actually work?

'Silence the ringing,' say the manufacturers of Tinnitus Control.

To the many sufferers of tinnitus (50 million in the US alone) this must sound like music to their ears.

The product claims to relieve the symptoms of tinnitus and help stop constant ringing in the ears.

An all natural, homeopathic formula, safe and effective, they say.

But this is a complicated condition with many causes and (of course) many proffered remedies.
So lets have a look at what creates this distressing condition and how it may be treated.

Tinnitus is defined as a constant noise or ringing in the ears. Causes include age-related hearing loss, ear injury or infection, circulation issues and constant exposure to loud noise.

It is for this last, common, cause of tinnitus that Tinnitus Control claims its best results.

Loud noise can permanently damage the inner cells of the ear. In these cases, the damage can produce dull ringing in the ear.
The noise can be constant: for example construction noise, chain saws, loud music; but it can also be caused by a one off loud bang such as a gun shot.

Tinnitus can also be caused by changes to the bones of the ear – 'otosclerosis' - which describes the stiffening of the small bones in the middle ear. This is a hereditary genetic condition.

So what can be done?

'Just two sprays under the tongue up to three times a day can help reduce your symptoms safely,' say Tinnitus Control.

The claims to relief are based on homeopathic ingredients including Arnica (as well known muscle tonic) which can also be used to treat blows, contusions and injuries.

Also Chininum Sulphuricum which is indicated for bell-like ringing in the ears; and Pulsatilla, indicated for tinnitus, tinkling, roaring, and humming in the ears.

It should be noted that homeopathic remedies may take time to work - in the case of this product, several months to achieve optimal results. Be aware of your rights as a consumer, especially with regard to returns if not satisfied.

Tinnitus Control is formulated to specifically treat tinnitus caused by cochlear damage. So if you are suffering from tinnitus due to stress or sinus troubles then this product is not recommended.

But the product is effective for some consumers.

'I would say it took about two or three weeks before the high pitched whine I suffered since my military service started to ease. About a month after that it was almost gone and I felt like a new man.'

Because the conditions has so many variations and so many causes, it is not surprising that sufferers have developed a variety of strategies to deal with it.

Each sufferer of tinnitus has a personal experience with the condition. What brings relief for one person may not work for another.

And conclusive research on the effectiveness of treatments is, unfortunately, lacking.

So does anything work?

The most effective remedies include white noise machines, meditation, a positive attitude and Tinnitus Distraction Therapy - which trains the mind not to focus on that annoying ringing.

Also used are acupuncture, cranio-sacral therapy, magnet therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, and hypnosis and homeopathic preparations such as Tinnitus Control.

And whilst there are positive testimonials for the product out there, there are also people for whom it did not work.

'It did not work at all. I am very disappointed. I wasted a lot of money for this product.'
And whilst some herbs, such as gingko biloba (which is included in the herbal supplement which comes along with Tinnitus Control spray) have been indicated as useful for treating ringing of the ears, the best advice seems to be to avoid loud noise.

'Stay away from all loud noises. Tinnitus is cumulative so the more you expose yourself the worse it gets.'

Or at least protect your hearing around loud noises so that the ringing does not get worse.

So in conclusion, this is a relatively new product which may yet produce interesting results.

Some people are experiencing effective relief.

But always consult your doctor over any health related matter. The tinnitus may be symptomatic of other conditions.
