WORX ECO WG780 Electric Lawn Mower Review From: WORX

This mower is environmentally friendly, seems to rarely ever need attention besides charging and cuts grass like a pro. It's a cordless electric mower that could stay in good condition for many years.

You'll have to recharge it and if you have a massive lawn that could be an issue. It's also a bit more expensive than a gas powered push mower.

If you're looking for a top notch electric mower that will be a welcome addition to your tool shed or garage, this is it.

The WORX ECO 24V WG780 Cordless Mower: Worth The Price?

Mowing your lawn has always been more than simply cutting your grass to an acceptable length. There's a rich tradition involved that dates back to about 75 years ago when the proliferation of suburbs really hit full swing. Friendly neighborhood rivalries began to pop up and you probably notice this same thing today, it hasn't changed much over the years. Who has the best Christmas lights, who has the nicer car, who has the best looking lawn. It's all in good fun for some but others take this very seriously.

Lawn mowers have come a long way and have actually evolved alongside automobiles to some extent. Older models are heavy and difficult to maintain while newer models are sleek and efficient. Electric mowers have been around for some time to please the eco-conscious crowd but they used to be tethered by a cord. This inevitably led to big wads of duct tape holding the rather scary cord together because it could get sucked into the blades once in a while. Old school electric mower users were wise to keep a push mower in the shed just in case.

The WORX ECO WG780 is one of the highest rated electric lawn mowers of all time and this is due to many reasons. Let's break them down in an easy to read list.

WORX ECO WG780 Cordless Lawn Mower Features

Multiple Uses - The WORX ECO WG780 can cut grass but it gives you a lot of options here. You can use your standard side chute, a detachable grass bag or the mulching attachment to tailor your mowing for specific uses. Many people today will opt for the mulching option when the landscaping season is just beginning to give your soil and new grass that extra kick then use the bag throughout the season for easy disposal.

Adjustable Height - I know this is available on most any mower but it's quite easy to change between 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 with the WORX ECO WG780. All the WORX mowers have very smooth adjustment setting areas and even after a lot of use they stay easy to use. Older mowers liked to seize up here so you'd be limited eventually. Not this time.

Minimal Maintenance - If you've had your share of gas mowers, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Spark plugs, oil mixtures, breaking the cord and other frustrating issues that usually lead to an explosion of bad language happen all the time with gas mowers both push and riding. The electric motor in this mower is almost maintenance free. They almost never break down at all according to user reviews.

Eco-Friendly - No gas engine means no emissions. It might be a strange sensation to not hear that normal mower noise and smell the fumes but your body and the environment will thank you for it. Use the mulching feature and you've got the most eco-friendly mower you can possibly have.

Large Battery - You don't want to mow 1/2 your lawn and have to sit while it recharges (though that makes for a nice break) so this mower comes with a "powertank" battery that can knock out up to 17,500 square feet of lawn at a time. The charger also works quickly

Adjustable Grip - Most newer mowers have this but WORX kicks it up a notch. You can adjust the handle to fit your height and make it a very smooth mow. It's also padded to give you even better grip.

2-Year Limited Warranty - The WORX ECO WG780 comes with a 2 year limited warranty if it malfunctions

User Testimonials

Neil Patterson (Worxtools.com)
Finally a mower with the power to compare to gas engines. I am impressed and would highly recommend this mower to everyone. Also the hassle of gas and oil are no more.
Suzanne Demitrio (Amazon.com)
...We unpacked the Worx cordless mower from the box and - wow! - it gobbled through that grass! It cuts beautifully, neat and even, and the motor doesn't complain even when you run over sticks (not that you are supposed to run over sticks, but sometimes it happens). The mulching function makes the clippings literally invisible...

The Bottom Line

I haven't been approved by the wife for this mower yet though I'm working on it. My experience is limited to what I could get the staff at the local Home Depot to let me try. This mower is both effective and attractive making it perfect for helping the environment while making your lawn look picture perfect. You know your neighbors will ask about it and will probably end up with one themselves in a payday or two if you live in a competitive neighborhood. This is a solid purchase and other reviews give it amazing marks.
