Webdotcom REVIEW - Best Server for your Small Business

I like web.com. In fact I like them so much that if I wasn't tucked in and satisfied with Godaddy.com I would jump ship. Hostgator is another hosting company I'd consider jumping ship for because of their green hosting.

A+ with the BBB

But back to Web.com. Let's start with the fact that they've got an A+ rating with the BBB. A lot of web servers don't bother with the BBB but for me personally that instantly instills a level of trust in the company's quality.

Exciting Company Growth

In 2010 Web.com purchased Register.com so they're now the leading domain registrar focused on the small business market. They've been in business since 1997, so I look at their company and I see they've developed it wisely. Their next move in August 2011 was even more bold! They acquired giant, Network Solution and managed to have a massive run on their stock right in the middle of a major market downturn. This move not only made their stock holders a ton of money it ensured web.com as a stable company that will be around for years to come.

Benefits for Small Businesses

But what I really like about Web.com is their emphasis on small businesses. This theme is repeated throughout their site. You can see it reflected in the content of their informative blog, as well as in their sections devoted to marketing and ecommerce.

That's why I would want to set up shop with them. As a small business owner, it makes sense to me to find a hub specifically designed to enhance your business development. They even have segments in their blog devoted to internet marketing, social media and SEO. I love that! Efforts like that create a sense of community which appeals to me as a small business owner and I'm assuming if you're a small business owner it would appeal to you as well. They invite you to share your story on their blog as well, which can help cultivate your reach and presence on the web as you grow your business.

Basically web.com offers small businesses a one stop solution if you're not tech inclined or interested. Social media is a necessary aspect of your business and so is having an easily navigable website but both can become a sink hole of time and financial resources. By the time you hire a web designer and go over all the layout decisions, design and ecommerce solutions you are looking at hundreds to even a couple thousand dollars. It doesn't stop there. Websites need to be backed up regularly, changes will need to be made and every time you do you're hiring your web designer for their time which isn't cheap. Take it from me. I regret some of the choices I made in that regard.

As far as social media goes, if you have no interest in it but you need it for your business, be careful! It can become a total time trap and pull focus from other, more important aspects of your business which lead more directly to sales. So if you're like me and you really want to stay focused on your business and keep the online stuff simple, web.com is an ideal choice.

User Friendly

I also really like their interface on their own website. The layout is very user friendly, clean and simple. They're currently running a deal on their hosting for $11.95/month which includes their website building tool with over 9500 starter template so you can literally build your site overnight (or have them do it for you) and be up and running for your customers within 24 hours without hiring a web designer!

Yay or Nay?

Web.com is the perfect solution for small businesses who need a solid web presence to improve the reach of their business, whose heart is not in virtual space, but in the real world.
