Review Snapshot

This product adds body to my hair as well as absorbs excess grease, which gives me lasting confidence in my appearance throughout the day. An added bonus is the wonderful scent!

The only downside is that it's a bit pricey for conditioner, especially if you are a frugal shopper like me.

This product is worth a few extra bucks because it is one of the few that really lives up to its claims.

Lives up to its claims, but is it worth the price?

Have you tried this product? I would love to share my experience with you.

The name of the product is "Pure Abundance Volumizing Clay Conditioner" and it is produced and distributed by Aveda.
I first experienced this product during an appointment at the Aveda Institute several years ago. I had gone in for a simple hair cut, and the stylist suggested this product based on my hair type. She shampooed and conditioned my hair using the Pure Abundance products, and I instantly fell in love. I thoroughly enjoyed the way these products made my hair look, feel, and smell.

First, allow me to explain why I fell in love. First, I have extremely thin, fine, stringy hair. When I use this conditioner I can really tell a difference in the way my hair looks and feels.  After using this product, my hair feels thicker and full of volume. Because I have naturally greasy hair, I normally I feel the need to wash my hair daily in order to keep it looking and feeling clean. Another plus of this product is that it seems to absorb excess grease, allowing me to go longer between washings without feeling dirty. I'm not certain of the reason for this, but I think it is possibly due to the clay content of the conditioner. This also means I end up having to use less product, which cuts down on the cost.

Also, I am absolutely in love with the way this conditioner smells. It is a combination of peppermint, jasmine, and some other therapeutic scents. The aroma it gives off makes me feel pampered, less stressed, and ready to take on the day.
Using this product does several things for me. It makes my hair look and feel wonderful, which makes me feel beautiful. It helps me to gain confidence in my overall appearance. I also feel like it contributes to my emotional well being because the scent of the product is like aromatherapy. It helps me de-stress.  Using this conditioner seems to keep my hair from being so greasy, which makes me feel clean and fresh.
So what about the cost? It runs somewhere between $2 and $3 dollars per ounce, depending on the size of the bottle. I prefer to buy the larger size to save some cash. So how does that compare to the cost of other volumizing conditioners? A basic cheap bottle of conditioner runs between $2 and $5 dollars for a 10-16 oz bottle.

So the question is: Why pay for such a pricey product?

Although it's more expensive, you can get by with using less product and still get amazing results. For instance, It takes me about 6 months to go through a 16.9 oz bottle of Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Conditioner. However, it takes me about 2 weeks to go through a bottle of cheap conditioner because I have to use so much more.

These cheap products also leave my hair feeling greasy and limp no matter what the product claims to do. So, I might spend $34 over 6 months using Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Conditioner, while I might spend $24 over 6 months using a basic cheap brand of conditioner. For me, spending 10 more dollars over a 6 month period is worth it, especially knowing that I'm using a better product that actually works.

Another point to consider is that Aveda products are usually more environmentally friendly than other beauty products.  Producing environmentally friendly products is generally a more expensive process, which contributes to the cost of the product. Aveda uses wind power for manufacturing as well as recycled materials in their packaging.

They also strive to use mostly natural ingredients, which is good for the environment as well as your health.

So is it worth the price? For me, yes. Considering that I am normally a cheapskate, that's saying a lot about how awesome this product is.
