Helen Mirren's birth certificate read Ilyena Lydia Mironoff, but it wouldn't stay that way for long. Her dad changed the entire family's surname to Mirren in the 1950s, according to Harper's Bazaar. And when Ilyena decided to become an actress, she opted for a different, simpler moniker to bring to Hollywood: Helen.
